The Frugal Triathlete: Finding the Black Friday Deals

santacycleBlack Friday. Cyber Monday. We know these days as marked by our culture as the “best” shopping days.

While many a triathlete thinks he’s bulletproof, we all discover after a few races that spandex is not Kevlar. At least our stretchy pants don’t wear quite like body armor. Furthermore, though we may wear flexible gear, few triathletes have such flexible budgets. We welcome Black Friday with open arms like every other good American consumer. And many deals do exist as we’ve discovered in our research.

In the spirit of American consumerism and the need to keep our fellow triathletes’ gear as non-transparent as possible, here are a few of our favorite links to some fantastic holiday specials on gear and triathlon whatnot.

MHutto’s Blog /: MHutto publishes an annual link to a variety of sites with some incredible Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales. These include big savings like up to 60% at Nytro. MHutto also includes codes that consumers can use to sweeten the deals. We love MHutto.

DC Rainmaker : Rainmaker has a much cleaner look than MHutto with more text links than images. This site will tell consumers what specific items are on sale and how long those sales last (like the TomTom Runner GPS Watch for $99 until December 1.)

As you look at these particular sites and their deals, do not forget to shop local. We strongly believe in supporting our local businesses, who have their own fantastic deals as well as real-life smiles (you just can’t get that kind of attitude online). So take a moment and visit the shops of these local triathlon lovers in all parts of our state:
